HDR & colour management training for companies
For technical teams in development, test labs and post-production
Assess HDR and display quality with clearly documented checks. Florian Friedrich works with your team on a specific task from your workflow, covering measurement setup, colour management or picture assessment. You receive practical exercises, a checklist of the steps discussed and prioritised recommendations for your daily work.

HDR and colour management training for your workflow
The workshop is for teams that test displays, process image signals or assess picture quality in post-production. Before the session, we select a specific task and suitable files, equipment and settings. Your team then works through a traceable example from its own practice.
Set up traceable measurements
Review viewing conditions, the measurement instrument, test signal and device settings together. Your team records the conditions needed to compare measurements.
Understand HDR picture behaviour
Examine tone mapping, metadata, signal levels and colour management using agreed examples. Learn which parts of the signal path may explain an observed change.
Make checks repeatable within your team
Turn the shared exercises into a short checklist. Record what your team can repeat independently and which further investigations would be useful.

Experience in display metrology and specialist training
Florian Friedrich chairs the ICDM HDR subcommittee and teaches BET’s expert seminar on display technology. At FF Pictures, he combines this work with in-house HDR software and practical picture-quality assessment. “Colour Pipeline Recipes for Cinema, HD/UHD and HDR” was developed with Charles Poynton and Up.grade.

Example exercise: why does the same HDR scene look different?
A possible exercise within the agreed workshop.
-
Compare
Play a short scene using two defined settings or signal paths. The team describes the visible differences.
-
Check
Examine signal levels, colour transforms, metadata and display settings individually. The available setup determines which investigation is useful.
-
Document
Record settings, observations and the next check. This creates a working note the team can use again.
Company workshop with a workflow review
Preparation, a practical day and documented next steps
A focused starting format for your team includes:
- A preparation call and review of agreed files, measurement data or information about your setup.
- One practical day with demonstrations and exercises addressing the question agreed together.
- A short checklist of the steps discussed and prioritised recommendations.
- A closing online discussion of the findings and next steps.
A clearly agreed scope
Before work begins, we define the question, input material, equipment, participants and deliverables. Calibration, additional measurement runs, technical implementation and ongoing support can be commissioned separately as needed.
On site or in a remote format
We plan hands-on device exercises using a suitable setup at your premises or at FF Pictures. A remote format is also possible for reviewing files, measurement data and test plans together. Training is delivered in English or German.
How we prepare your company workshop
- Discuss the question, team and existing setup
- Agree the agenda, material and scope
- Work through practical exercises and document checks
- Discuss findings and next steps in a follow-up session
Questions about company workshops
What prior experience does the team need?
Exercises are adapted to your team’s experience. We explain the necessary foundations for beginners; experienced teams can focus on a specific measurement or assessment task. We agree the level during the preparation call.
Do we need our own instruments or a training room?
We start with your existing equipment and establish which instruments and conditions the exercises need. Alternatively, we arrange a suitable setup at FF Pictures. Remote discussions of files, measurement data or workflows do not require your own measurement room; visual display assessment requires suitable conditions on site.
What does the workflow review cover?
We examine the agreed files, measurement data or information about one workflow to prepare the exercises. You receive documented observations and next checks. Extensive troubleshooting, additional systems and implementation of technical changes are agreed as additional services.
Can we combine the workshop with device calibration?
Yes. For calibration, we agree the devices, measurement scope and targets in addition to the workshop’s learning goals. Your proposal specifies the practical work and training included.
How do we get a suitable proposal?
Tell us your question, participant count, existing equipment and preferred timing. We clarify the preparation, suitable format, location and deliverables, then prepare a proposal for your team.
Plan a company workshop for your team
Describe the task you want your team to handle more confidently after the workshop. Include the participant count, existing equipment or software and preferred timing. Florian Friedrich will discuss a suitable scope and format with you.
